Introduced in 1971, the Series III was the ultimate iteration of the E-Type and though purists cling to the Series I, it is in many ways, the best. The new V12 engine provided the most effortless, silken delivery of power, the wider track greatly improved comfort and handling (not to mention finally putting the wheels out to the edges and thereby banishing the ‘breadvan’ look of the earlier models) and the increased cockpit room revolutionized interior accommodation.
Offered here is a lovely, blue-plate, California car with one owner for over thirty years. Finished in Light Blue and fitted with factory Turbo-Disc wheels, shod with whiteband tyres, it is remarkably handsome. This is further accentuated by the small bumpers (unique to the early cars). The navy leather interior is virtually new and the chrome, glass & rubber are all in fine fettle. The factory air-conditioning is all present, though does not blow cold.
On the road, the ride is excellent, the engine wonderfully smooth and the three-speed automatic gearbox shifts well.
What better way to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the legendary E-Type, than with this extremely attractive, very clean example, for a fraction of the cost of its older siblings?!
