What more is there to say about the 911 that has not already been said a thousand times over? It is simply (and deservedly), one of the most incredibly successful performance cars ever built. With an almost unchallenged position as the longest running automotive design in history, it has remained not only relevant, but has led the field throughout. From its innovative 2.0 litre beginning in 1963, it has continuously evolved to maintain its status. Improvements to the handling resulted in the introduction of the long wheelbase model in 1968 and then in 1969, the performance was given a boost from 2.0 litres to 2.2 litres, to ensure that it stayed ahead of its competitors.
As a 1971, this gorgeous US delivered model has therefore benefitted from both these production revisions but is still early enough to feature the true, classic 911 look (before the change to impact bumpers in 1974). As a California car, it has escaped any hint of corrosion and its freshly refinished, black coachwork perfectly accentuates the straightness of the body. The interior is also newly refinished in black with houndstooth inserts and charcoal carpeting, which really sets it apart.
On the road, it is a delight. The matching numbers engine pulls strongly through all the gears with crisp shifts and keen braking to match. And the Fuchs alloys are all freshly reshod with new Goodyear 205/65R15 tyres to complement its impeccable handling.
One of the best looking & driving 911s we have seen, it will make a superb addition to any garage.
