What more can be said about the E-Type? Enzo Ferrari famously called it 'the most beautiful car ever made,' whilst Frank Sinatra, upon seeing one in a Sunset Strip showroom, excitedly exclaimed, "I want that car and I want it NOW!" (He didn't get it, incidentally, as it was the only one the dealer had!)

Launched in 1961, the E-Type was originally conceived and produced as a two seat coupe. Though a convertible and a 2+2 were to follow, the pure line of the coupe was never bettered. Even when US Federal mandates dictated significant changes to the original design, such as open headlights and larger taillights, for the second series, it was the coupe that most retained the elegance and style of its first forebear.

Though often overlooked, in favour of the Series 1, the Series 2 E-Types are arguably the most driveable and reliable of all three series. They have a more efficient cooling system than either of the others and so can handle warmer climes far better.

This stunning example, spent most of its life in Texas (hence the factory air-conditioning), before coming to California. Beautifully presented throughout, it has obviously had many thousands spent on it both cosmetically and mechanically. The Old English White coachwork is extremely straight and virtually unmarked and the glass and chrome are very clean. The interior shows very well, with just the right amount of patina, but it is under the bonnet where it is perhaps most impressive. The frame rails are perfectly finished and the engine detailed to a high degree.

On the road, it drives extremely well, shifting smoothly through all the gears and steering and braking straight.

There were fewer Series 2 Fixed Head Coupes produced (only 4,855) than either of its siblings and so good ones are increasingly hard to find. This therefore, is an ideal opportunity to acquire a very well sorted example of the best looking version of the most reliable series of E-Type.
